Halloween is one of our favorite time of the year. We can be whoever we want and therefore, everything is allowed. Nevertheless, there are some looks that are easy and fast to achieve if you didn’t have time to get inspired.
Despite a Halloween costume can be very elaborate and fancy, there are some basic aspects that are common to all the looks. Here we show you the basics and below we give you 4 ideas with their respective modification and changes.
What do you need?
– Liquid foundation. No more than 2 tones lighter than your natural skin color.
– Powder. It shouId be transparent or same color than foundation
With your face clean and moisturized with your daily routine, apply the foundation with a brush or a wet sponge all over the face but also neck and cleavage, otherwise it will look like you’re wearing a mask. After foundation, apply powder. Don’t wear blush.
DRAMATIC DARK EYES:
What do you need?
– Eye lids primer
– Black eyeshadow
– Creamy black eyeliner
– False eyelashes (if you want, of course)
First thing is eye lid primer so the eye shadow stays on its place. After it, start with a base color achieved by drawing a thick line with a creamy eyeliner on the lids (up and down) and blending it out with a brush or your fingers. Then, apply black eyeshadow over it. If you want a smokey eye effect, emphasize the color in the outer corner of the eye and diminish the intensity as you reach the inner corner of the eye area.
What do you need?
– Lip liner (the color should be similar to your lipstick)
– Lipstick in red, wine or violet shades
– Powder, ideally transparent but color is not really a matter here, since its main function is to fix the makeup and you’re gonna apply a lipstick layer over it.
Your lips should be moisturized before drawing the contour of your lips and filling them with the same lipliner. Apply one lipstick layer and remove the excess by pressing a tissue with your lips. Then apply powder and another lipstick layer.

OUR 4 BASICS
It’s basically a mixture of all the tips we have already given here: pale face, dark eyes and red lips.
You can add some fake blood that you can buy in any costumes store and apply it with a brush from the lip corner. In the same store you can also find fake fangs to look like the real Queen Of The Damned.
Instead a pale/White foundation, you can use one with green undertones or a concealer for red spots. In costumes stores you can find green foundation . You should mix it with white or a natural color so you won’t look like Shrek.
If you want to be an old witch, once you finished with the foundation, you need to draw wrinkles with a brown eyeliner, following your natural expression marks.
Who could forget Liz Hurley in Bedazzled? The idea of this makeup is not looking pale or gaunt, so you can use your regular foundation and emphasize the femme fatale features. Blush is allowed.
When you do your smokey eye, try to create a ‘cat eye’ effect by drawing an angle in the outer corner of the eye. When you draw the line over the upper lid, end it up with a wing, like the following image shows.
The lipstick for this makeup should be a warm/orangy red.
Ghost/ Dead Girl Walking:
It’s not particularly a sexy look, so you should keep the light foundation and dark eyes but don’t apply red lipstick since it will ruin the “lifeless” effect of the costume. To achieve de “corpse” effect , you can work the contour of your face with a foundation two tones darker than the one you used for your face.
To contour, work the dark foundation over the light one in these places : temples and going up to your forehead, cheekbones (essential), chin. Apply it emphasizing the natural contour of your face and then blend it with a wet sponge.
